Neely and me after her first communion (this year). |
Nick Buck-NiehausI'm 22 years old and was born and raised in Portland, Oreogn. I have been riding motorcycles since I was 5 (Honda XR 50) and motorcycles with a clutch since 10 (Honda XR 100). I'm one of the two partners in the web and graphic design firm Vanivo Business Solutions, which Tony and I started after meeting while attending University of Oregon. I now go to Porland State and am on the PSU cheerleading team. My sister Neely was diagnosed with cancer last year (2007) when she was 7 years old. The type of cancer she had is called a Wilms' Tumor. She had one kidney removed, part of her liver, and went though radiation and months of chemotherapy. She has since made a full recovery and has become an inspiration in my life. I have never seen such strength and courage in someone, let alone a 7-8 year old. Neely was treated at Doernbecher and is why we're doing this fundraiser. |

Tony KauI'm 22 years old, and a recent graduate of the University of Oregon where I earned a business degree. I've been riding a motorcycle since May, 2008, following a few hours on a dirt bike. I am on the Stunt Team for the Portland Trail Blazers, so you'll see me at all the home games. Nick and I currently run Vanivo Business Solutions, LLC, a web marketing company. Additionally, I'm involved in the equity options market, and track the stock market constantly. Watching Neely and the Niehaus family during this chapter of their lives has been an eye-opener to me. Pulling through this type of situation takes extraordinary perserverence, courage, and faith. I consider myself very fortunate to have witnessed this inspiring fight. I'm very excited to be involved with helping other families fight this battle, and wish them the same positive outcome that Neely achieved. |
